I just ordered one of these engines off ebay...does anyone have one and how does it perfom ? Any hints to making it run stronger?
I was gonna install it on a adult tricycle but didint know if i needed a tricycle with one speed or if it would be better to get one that was a 3 speed or higher, for climbing the local hilly roads.

BGF doesn't have the most accurate descriptions...and they sell the really shitty "Russian" clutch lever. You don't always get what you order from them either....good luck there. As for the engine itself, these all run about the same, but SOME take better care of you than others after the sale.
As for the trike, have you considered how you'll mount the engine on it? It's not just a bolt up proposition like a two wheeler. You may need a 48 or 50 T sprocket for hills if you weigh over 180 or so with a heavy trike.
Keep us posted as to how it all works out.

Thanks for the reply...
as far as this unit haveing a crappy clutch lever, if thats one of the big problems, then ill be happy, since thats not gonna be a big deal to me....I could always replace it with something else laying in my garage and also, since this unit is a centrifgul clutch unit, I am assuming a clutch lever wouldnt even be needed, if it works simliar to centrigful clutches on go carts or scooters...there wouldnt be any levers needed to engage it, it should work automatically off of rpms..
I was trying to think of a method to mount it to the front wheel of a adult tricycle. I can do welding and was trying to think of a way to use this engine not as a chain drive unit, but somehow bolt/weld the drive shaft of the engine directly to the front wheel or going with a friction drive/ roller system above the front tire. But if I did that, then I guess I would lose the power aspects of haviung small front sprocket and large back sprocket / chain system...this would be priomarily for my wife and she weighs 170 lbs, but I live in the mountains and we have some very steep roads in this area.

Sounds to me like you could make a mount for the front fork, then just run the sprocket on the front wheel.
