Whizzer Help 2007/07/17 17:02 Karma: 0
I need some help decifering something I found on the net.

"For more power....take out restricter in intake manifold...drop carb. needle circleclip one notch....adv. camshaft one tooth...drill a 1/4 hole in end of exhaust pipe insert.....now you can go almost 40 m.p.h. and have a cooler running engine. I use mobile 1 synthetic oil, why? because it takes high heat better than conventional oil and is slicker. Have fun!!"

I get most of that but what is the "carb. needle circleclip"?

I have gotten my bike to do 40 to 45 but it runs pretty warm at that speed so I try to keep it down around 30 to 35.

By the way, this is my first post here. A little introduction is in order. My names Carl and I'm from Burrton Kansas. I'm currently ridding an 07 Whizzer that I got on July 4th and already have a little over 500 miles on it. I love these bikes and am hooked for good!!

Other interests include restoring and having fun with old cars. I currently drive a 1967 Ford Galaxie and am restoring a 1967 Ford F-250 4x4. I also enjoy all thing radio control and have been flying rc planes for about 20 years.

My user id is my SASS alias. If your into guns and like the old west then you really should check them out. It's alot of fun and you get to meet a very unique group of people.

Later,
Carl

Carl! An R/C guy too? EXELLENT!

And now the answer folks.....there is a "C" shaped clip in the carb that holds the slide needle in the slide. It has several "notches" that the clip can go into for mixture adjustment. If you unscrew the top of the carb and slide the slide out, you'll see the needle being held in the slide with a spring...pull the spring up and push the cable down and you will liberate the needle. Now look and see the clip? If you move the clip UP you will lean the engine out (and being and R/C guy you know what that will do). move the clip down from where it is to make the engine run richer. "Drop the carb needle circlip one notch."

I drop it one, run it and see how it goes, you may need to move it again....only one notch at a time please.

A guy in my area has a "like new" Whizzer for 750.00 O.B.O......sounds like a good deal. I may have a look at it later.

Any known issues with an '02 model?

Without doing anything too silly, aka something that will greatly decrease reliability- can the Spooky tooth motors handle any slight tweaks of this sort to bolster performance?

Mine is breaking in nicely and running a bit smoother and stronger than when new. I'm excited to open her up and do some service, including anything else I can to just flesh out the power band, as long as it's well within the engine's inherent ability to withstand. I have commuted about 22 miles each way to work a few times now, and just love it.
