when putting the back sprocket on it does not sit flat on the hub because the bearing cover is all most the same diameter of the hole in the sprocket I should leave the mechanics to the gods at spookey tooth but needed a winter project. Everything else is on the bike I am in need of some bicycle speed thank u ....

Did you have a chance to see the installation manual?

But, the answer unfortunately is that the dust cap does need to be thrown away. Generally rear wheels can be about the hardest part of an engine installation.

I took all mine off and then ground the flange off of them so I at least had a cover, though not as good a cover as they had when they were stock.

Hold the cover at a 45 degree angle and grind off the "lip" then test fit it. Keep turning it and grinding gently until it fits.
