querve v violation 2008/04/30 06:27 Karma: 0
Hi folks, fng here,
I'm in Maine. Going to purchase a Spookytooth. Have a 20 mile roundtrip commute with a couple of steep short hills, otherwise relatively flat. Need to have the 48cc due to Maine DMV. Which bike is going to get it done better? 2oo# rider. Is the 7 speed a worthwhile upgrade? Any and all feedback appreciated.
Tim

THE 7 SPEED QURVE THE 7 SPEED IS ON THE BICYCLE SIDE OF THE DRIVE NOT THE MOTOR THE MOTOR IS ON ONE SPEED GO AND IF U HAVE TO START ON HILLS I THINK IT WILL BE VERY HELPFUL JUST LIKE A REGULAR BIKE WERE U PEDAL UP HILL AND THINK DANG A LITTLE LOWER GEAR WILL MAKE THIS HILL EASIER BUT AS SOON AS U HIT FIVE MPH WITH THE QURVE LET THAT CLUTCH GO AND TS ALL MOTOR

Thanks for the response on Qurve v Violation. What do you think the strong points are for the Violation? Any for the Qurve?

I don't know about the violation but I bought a Qurve and I like the 7 speed. I don't use the pedals that much but when you need them the 7 speed is great.

Thanks Doc, that's what I was wondering. Next question, I'm wondering about the 44 tooth v 36 tooth sprocket. Which do you have and does it make a difference in your opinion when you have the ability to give your speed a boost with the 7-speed on the bike side. To boil all that down, if you're on a flat terrain and you take it up a notch by pedaling, when you drop the clutch back in will it maintain? I must clarify, I need the 48cc here in Maine. Thanks much for your time. Any other insights?

I have the 44 tooth. I don't know about the speed yet. I am still breaking in the motor.
