How to set a clutch? 2008/06/05 09:58 Karma: 0
Hi, Im Todd from Sioux City Iowa. I order and got a bike from you guys a few weeks back. I love it and so does everybody up here. The local paper did a story about the bike. Hopefully you guys get some orders from up here. I guess alot of people have been calling the paper to get Spooky Tooths phone number.

Anyway, I wanted to build my own bike for my girl friend. I got it all put together but I dont know how to set the clutch. With the clutch lever pulled in or released it always just acts released. I cant get a nuetral. What did I do wrong.

Thanks
Todd

Saw the instructions. That just shows how to run the cables. I have the cables ran. Like I said before engaged or disengaged, its all the same right now.

Here's a start....

Turn the clutch adjustment at the lever all the way in, then back it out a turn. Pull the arm down at the engine over to the right (facing forward, the arm should be almost completely facing toward the back of the bike) and push it pretty hard with your thumb. Have a helper pull the cable tight in the housing and install the cable stop. You should have disengagement after you do this....if not, did you take the cover off for anything like threading the chain around the front sprocket? If you did, did you remove the pushrod from the center of the sprocket? There is a little ball inside there that can be easily lost.

Let me know if this helps.

I had the same problem the first time, because i didnt run the clutch cable through the hole on the topside ot the engine first and the cable had no place to hold the tension of the cable.
if this is not clear enough send me an e-mail and ill do my best to help you. -Lance Pierson- California distributor- knowone55@yahoo.com
