Hey yall. Got my 2 stroke. Put in on. Constant chain problems. Got it working for a little bit, rode on idle for awhile. Then I tried to give it some gas. Master link popped off and a good portion of the chain bent and broke. Ordering a new chain hope to have more luck next time. At least the engine fired up, that was the easy part. This damn chain thing sux. I don't think I have proper tension. I have tried over a dozen adjustments and the chain mostly just pops off the sproket. Anyone ever devise or find a spring loaded chain tensioner? The beaners really liked the bike.

First, look down the chain and sprockets....make sure they are lined up. Sometime people get the rear sprocket on backwards. Make sure your sprocket bolts are tightened evenly so there is no wobble in the sprocket. Put the new masterlink on so the open part of the clip faces toward the back when it's on the top going toward the engine. Finally 3/4"-1" of freeplay works best for me.

Too tight is worse than a little loose.

Also binjam, If the chain is too long, you might have to remove a link or two to get the proper chain length so that you can adjust the chain properly.

a good rule is not to have more then 1/2inch of slack in the chain.

I had a problem like that but the fix was moving the chain tentioner, it was putting too much stress on the chain and it kept getting jammed up in the front sporket... a little tweaking and it was fine, hope you get back on the road soon!

NEW PROBLEM 2008/04/20 01:12 Karma: 0
Got a new chain and chain breaker. Got the chain tension great. Rode bike for 2 miles then loud scraping noise from engine. I've been running 3.5oz weed wacker 2 stroke oil per gallon. I've always had a high idle and idle adjuster has no effect. Loud noise from inside the engine is not from the chain at all. Loud scraping noise occurs during clutch engaged and disengaged and engine fires up and runs even with this noise. Please advise.
