Clutch function and cruiser brake ops? 2008/07/15 05:40 Karma: 2
Explain the function of the clutch. (I think it's ... pulled in and locked the motor sprokets spins WITHOUT engaging the chain sprocket ... allowing the chain sprokets to move freely WITHOUT engine assist.)

Explain how the cruiser bike brake works with this kit installed. (I'm afraid to push back on/ rotate CCW/ use the peddle brakes of the cruiser bike with the clutch out and unlocked for fear that I will somehow strip out something in the rear wheel.)

Until recently these things were dumy-ma-floppers ... so on. Just looking for clear answers.

When you disengage the clutch (lever in) it "unhooks" the engine from the drive chain to the rear wheel. You can still pedal and/orbrake with the clutch in or out.

If you have a coaster brake, you can pedal backwards for braking with the clutch engaged or dis-engaged, neither one effects the other's operation.

Yes ...

Clear cut, to the point. Those are the answers I was looking for.

Are you the only one that answers questions on this site? After a couple questions I asked and answers from you I was begining to feel like the dummy in class. And I know better. I just don't know motors and I wasn't understanding you/the teacher.

Thanks,
Josie

PS If I flip out in someones yard because I use that brake while the motor is spinning that rear wheel I'm gonna get on here and cuss you up one side and down the other!

I've read the picture on the intro forum: To argue on the internet is like being in the special olympics ... even if you win, you're still a retard (or something like that).

Well, now, Josie - - - NOW you're _startin_ ta sound like you're from ARKANSAS!!! There's that razorback spit & gumption! And as far as braking and clutching (the bike, that is....) It's just like a standard shift car. I know they have those up there, I drove one a few years back - in the hills - in the snow!

Hey ragtop!

Where you from?

Don't think you can tell from my photo ... there's alot of red in my hair!!! (I have a friend that says red heads are just blonds from hell! ... but then, his nickname is "brown star" ... figure that one out on your own.)

Thanks for the brake and clutch comment. Yeah ... I think I'll use the clutch when I break to keep stress off the motor and wheel spokes. And to keep me out of someones yard or worse the street!

Have a good one

If it helps, I always dis-engage when slowing or even if I am running down a long hill. I just re-engage when I need to ad power.

and yeah, sometimes I'm the only "answere-er".

BJ,

Well, you've been a great help. I've got copies of several of the blog responses you've sent that are in my manuals stack. Have you thought about rewriting a manual ... all inclusive type? Might help out a lot of beginners. One with lots of pretty picture! I like pictures!!!

Better run ... hopefully I'll get a chance to ride tonight. I haven't had time to play in the last two weeks!

All work and no play makes Josie a dull girl.

Have fun.

I may not be sharp, but I'm far from dull!

Finally got my hands on some hose clamps. My fuel line drips. I even replaced it all after the motor jumped frame. I'll see if I can't get these clamps to put a stop to that. And yes I set it in the off position after I stop and store it.

How you been? Working on that manual with pretty pictures yet? I'd pay $5 for a nice one! It'd have to have a couple drool factor photos, like some modified bikes and the hot thang in this sites photo gallery. The one in Blue!

You take it easy!

BJ,

Things are going great! I bought another bike this week. I went to Sale Galore on HWY 64 over the weekend and bought an older bike. A step through. It needs lots of love and I really haven't checked it out good to see how bad it's condition is. $20 for a little toy to tinker with isn't too bad. I'm thinking if it's frame is rusted out too bad then I'll set it in a flower bed for a vine of some sort to grow up through.

Hope all is going well for you?
