Winterizing 2008/08/21 05:33 Karma: 0
Hey, my Spooky Tooth is being delivered tomorrow and the summer is fading fast here in Maine. I figure I'll just have finished the breakin period when I'll have to start thinking about putting it up for the winter. Anyone know the proceedures I should follow if I'll not be riding for a few months? The bike will be stored in a heated area. Thanks much.

drain the fuel. thats probably about it. or, run it until the fuel runs out. since you're keeping it in a heated area. some two stroke boat guys do this:

"For 2-strokes it's a fairly simple process to winterize them... Really all you need to do is add some gas stabilizer to the tank, get as much water out of the exhaust as you can and then fog the engine. Fogging the engine is simply spraying fogging oil down the throat of the carbs until the engine cuts off...."

As i'm sure you know, you shouldn't have any water in the fuel, since this is a land based vehicle and not a jet ski or boat.

but, I never had to do this since being in AZ means great weather all winter long.....

Add some "Stabil" (read the intructions, use the recommended amount NO EXTRA!!!)to your fuel mix and run the bike a few minutes. It will be "winterized"
