when the engine is cold i have too really get moving to roll the engine,sometimes it dont fire and brings the bike to a quick stop.once it gets warmed up and has run for a minute i can shut it off and restart it with normal pedal speed.is this normal or does the cylinder need cleaning or something.feels like its got massive compression when its cold.

That is completely normal.....for those of you that don't deal with cold temps often, cold oil will be very sluggish and so will any other lubes such as chain and gear lubes.

Everything is smaller/tighter when cold.

Will the choke help with warming up?

Yes, use enough to fire it up, then after a few seconds start "turning off" the choke slowly...you'll find a place where the engine will run with full power and it will warm up better/faster. Don't forget to turn it off, otherwise the bike will let you know you forgot something.

Here when it's around 60 degrees, you have to use the choke, even on a re-start if you let the bike sit for 20 minutes or so.
