nexus 3-speed question 2008/11/17 19:27 Karma: 0
Is the Shimano nexus 3-speed with coaster brake hub a straight forward install with one of your kits, or would I need different spacers, sprocket or other parts? Also, does the gearing mess with the operation of the bike under gas power? I would like to install on a Felt M.P., thanks!

How you doing Eflow, I have been thinking about installing a nexus system on my bike, did a little research and think it shouldn't cause to many problems...the hub itself is wider than standard so you might need to increase the hole diameter on the inside spacer of the rag mount. the sprocket hole might also need to be enlarged slightly to fit over the dust cover. The gearing wont affect the operation under power unless you plan to add a shifter kit to the motor (which I plan to do). the only question in my mind is if the nexus is robust enough to withstand shifting under load at speeds a bicycle under pedal power wont go... hope this helps, Scott

“I can fix damn near anything with duct tape, bailing wire, and a hammer.” Cheers, Scott
