Oil on head... 2008/11/25 08:24 Karma: 0
I have residual oil/fuel on the top of my cyl. head....Does oil come up through the cyl. studs or something.....Seems to be around the spark plud hole area mostly....Or maybe it`s blowing to that area while riding....
thanks,
Paul.....

The stock plug pretty much sucks and the gasket on it isn't much better. Some plug actually leak from between the porcelain and the steel. Most just leak around the gasket.

Use an NGK B5HS or B6HS and use some never seize on the threads. Gap it at .024 and tighten it a quarter turn after it stops going in finger tight.

The stock wire will work fine, the plug is the same, just much higher quality. I am a mechanic, and I use NGK plugs for everything I can get them for. You will of course need to remove the threaded cap from the new plug, just like on the old plug.

Odd thing, I noticed in the installation instructions that you are not supposed to use anything other than the stock plug except during an emergency. That made no sense to me at all, especially if the stock plug is junk. It's probably unavailable anywhere but China. Jerry.

Hi folks, been doing a little research to minimize the trial and error with my "80cc" kit. There are several plugs by various manufactures that are compatible with these Chinese 2 Strokes, a couple of the more readily available types are:
Hot Plugs
B5HS-NGK
W9AC-Bosch
AE6C-Motorcraft

Cold Plugs
B6HS-NGK
W7AC-Bosch
AE3C-Motorcraft

The plugs I have listed as hot have a higher ambient temperature because of an elongated insulator tip, these would probably be best suited for applications in cooler climates or winter use(or at least in theory). On another MB forum I have read good reviews of the Diamond fire E3.12 plug, it supposedly improves fuel economy by providing a more complete burn, and less carbon fouling for the same reason.Interestingly enough the plug is guaranteed for the life of the motor its used in. Here is the link to their web page if your interested...Scott

Exellent info!

Also, you can use a 7mm plug wire...get a good piece, it will help out with the sparks too.

This is Michael the Manager here at the Spooky Tooth Tucson (520-624-7009) I bet your spark plug needs to be tightened up, chances are the oil is coming right up the loose threads, and or your head bolt nuts need to be torqued.
