Sizing Chart & Additional Info

In our collection, we primarily use 3 types of frames:

LowRider Cantilever Tube Frame-

Our LowRider frame is a near perfect reproduction of the early Schwinn cantilever tube boys' frame. The LowRider cruiser is the basis for our Bare Bones, Dresser, Chopper, & Black Racer. LowRider components are strong yet heavy; a characteristic we can afford with such a strong engine. Because the frame is available as an individual component, Spooky Tooth Cycles will occasionally do "frame-up" builds, like the Black Racer. These instances would be where we press in the headset and bottom bracket races, set the chainring and Ashtabula crank, cut the fork to length, etc. We always welcome custom bike build ideas, and this is one reason why.

  • Frame Size = 18.5"
  • Wheelbase = 43"

The Bare Bones, Dresser, Chopper, and Black Racer will best fit a person from 5'2" to 6'0". If the rider is 5'8" to 6'6", we recommend purchasing a bent seat post. Added comfort for taller riders, try an Apehanger. The 15" Apes are surprisingly comfortable and very easy to maneuver.

GreenLine Single Top Tube Frame-

  • Frame Size = 17"
  • Wheelbase = 48"

The GreenLine company gives us a stout, long frame with a single top tube and a more feet forward pedaling position. These frames make up our Violation, Qurve, & Hot-Shoe Racer. We receive our bikes out of the box complete. "Frame-up" builds are more difficult when we start with a GreenLine bike, but please feel free to ask for customized parts. This is what we do best.

The Violation, Qurve, & Hot-Shoe Racer will best fit riders from 5'0" to 6'2". If the rider is taller than 6'0", then a bent seat post may fit well.

GreenLine Cantilever Tube Frame-

  • Frame Size = 19"
  • Wheelbase = 48"
The Industrial easily accomodates taller riders because of the extended wheel base and longer reach neck stem. The Industrial will best fit riders from 5'3" to 6'2". If taller than 6'2", please consider either long-horn handlebars or a bent seat post.

Position:

On normal mountain & road bikes, there is a 3 point weight distribution: hands, feet, and seat. The instant that a gas or electric motor begins to propel a bicycle, weight immediately shifts back to the seat. Before we recommend any type of front suspension to a customer, we will try to recommend a comfortable saddle. This shift of weight can sometimes turn into a rider's advantage. Because all of your weight is now on the seat, an upright seated position has the benefit of a straighter back as well as a stance that is ready to accept whatever obstacles appear in the road. Sitting straight up sometimes provides more confidence, as if you are ready to take what the road is going to give.

If beach cruiser moon bars aren't your thing, try a Long-Horn handlebar. The hand positiong can be more comfortable on your wrists because of the less dramatic bend.

48cc versus 80cc Engines

The 48cc and 80cc engines both have a top speed of 25-30 mph when equipped with a 44 tooth rear drive sprocket. The 80cc however has more than enough power to accomodate a gear ratio change. The top speed on an 80cc engine when equipped with a 36 tooth rear drive sprocket is 35-40 mph.
