The HD wheel starts with a solid chro-moly axle supported in a thick steel hub shell by 2 high-load sealed cartridge bearings. Standardized ISO thread pitches are used to attach a single speed freewheel to the right side of the hub, and a reverse thread fixed or freewheeling 44 tooth engine drive sprocket mounted to the left side of the hub. A double wall Weinmann DM30 alloy rim is then laced using ultra thick 12 gauge spokes available in either economical UCP steel or time tested stainless steel. The HD Wheel is a drop in replacement for cruiser coaster brake wheels because of the inclusion of a high power band brake. If a hub brake is your only option for stopping in the rear, you will appreciate the simplicity and strength of the contracting band brake. It's function works opposite of an expanding drum brake and is simple to operate and install. We provide an extra long rear brake cable and brake lever for your convenience.
The 44 tooth engine drive sprocket threads and mounts directly to the hub. You are guaranteed a sprocket that will always stay true. And because of the direct hub mount, less pressure is placed on the spokes. Normal sprocket mounting connects the drive sprocket to 1 side of the wheel by grabbing 18 spokes and sandwiching them with 2 rubber grommets. By mounting to the hub, the HD Wheel applies equal drive force to both sides of the wheel putting force on all 36 spokes evenly.
The HD wheel includes the following:
HD hub assembly with 202 sealed cartridge bearings
Fixed 44 tooth sprocket for push start motorized bicycles or Freewheeling 44 tooth sprocket for pull starts
