In many states, the speed limit for motorized bicycles (before you must have registration, license and insurance) is 20 miles per hour. In your community, electric bicycles may be the only acceptable choice because they fall more under the radar.
Gas
The gas powered motorized bicycle is very strong and capable of being fast. For motor vehicle standards, their emissions are clean. They get at least 150 miles per gallon and on a half gallon tank, the gas powered motorized bicycle can drive 75 miles before a refill is needed. We use 2 cycle engines, meaning that lubrication is carried in the premixed gasoline. If you travel too great of a distance, there is a possibility of damaging the engine. We generally only recommend our gas powered cycles for short trips up to 30 miles at a stretch.
An understanding of mechanics and basic nuts & bolts will be necessary for our gas powered motorized bicycles. Follow the break in and maintenance guidelines, learn to troubleshoot, and do not ride full throttle all the time. When the engine is broken in properly, engine life expectancy is somewhere around 10,000 miles. Electric
Today's electric bicycle is state of the art technology. Several years ago, the electric bike market suffered from high price, a lack of range and power, and very strange style. Electric bicycles are completely silent and maintenance free. We can ship right to your door in 5 to 7 business days. Electric bikes will arrive almost fully assembled. You will need to attach the seat, seat post, pedals, handlebar, and the front wheel. All of these parts are very easy to assemble and only require a few tools. An electric bicycles' range and speed can vary greatly. Generally expect to travel at 20mph and get about a 20 to 25 mile range on a single charge.
