Get used to being hassled, im 50, gotton more tickets than i can remember for all kinds of stupid human tricks i pulled in front of 5-O, and pleaded not quilty on 99% offum just to be a court room hemoroid for some under paid prosecutor.

Just yes sir no maam to the cops in the street, nothing else!!!!!

and wait till you get to court and act professional butt stand your ground.

If a cops writing stupid tickets they will get a ration of chit about it, you just will never know.

Now, telling a cop these things are 80cc's is pretty close to being really stupid, seeing first off, they are only 80cc's in china, and shrink somehow on the trip over...

If you get a ticket for 1 or 2 mph over whether you're in a car or on a bike, you're dealing with a gung-ho cop with a problem. Any cop should have a couple mph leeway either way because his equipment is not perfectly calibrated, no more than yours. I got stopped one time on a 200cc scooter for going 50 in a 40 but the cop actually was picking up a car in the other lane. He must have had his doubts himself or he would not have let me go because he was one of the worst gung-ho types you'll ever see. Personally, I always abide by speed limits. Can't afford a ticket. My last speeding ticket was in 1983 for going 63 on the San Diego freeway in Calif. The cop was a CHiPs Poncharella wannabe.

I'm just in the planning stages, but I've already printed out my state's laws on motorized bikes and will be carrying it in my wallet. If I get pulled over, I'll show it to the cop and if they still ticket me, there won't be anything I can do but fight it. The overall law is supposed to be (but probably varies) is that a factory bought moped, which will naturally come with signals and a brake light, should be licensed and you may or may not have to have a motorcycle license. On the other hand, ADDING a motor to a bike under around 49cc makes it a MOTOR ASSISTED BICYCLE as long as functional pedals remain on the bike and it is not required to be licensed. Do people with power chairs have to have a license? Of course not. Some cops just get overzealous and are ignorant of the law and see some punk flying down the road and go after them and know there will be no disciplinary actions for them, only for you.
Here's a link to the scooter laws:

they are a bunch of dips. The cop showed to my court date and actually had the nerve to lie during the proceeding. At the end of the hearing after presenting my case, I was told that a decision could not be reached and that I would be contacted with the results later in the week. After about 5 days I got a letter and turns out I WON, no $1500 ticket to pay. Just goes to show how ridiculous this law is. Thanks for all the support and info.
